Brad Allred isn't just an author; he's family, my go-to for fatherly advice and wise counsel. When I was 19, my father passed away, and Brad became my source of wisdom, shaping my adult life. Six years ago, he approached me for insight on his first Christmas book, marking the beginning of a remarkable journey. Little did I know that the man who had been a pillar of strength was also a latent writer, waiting for retirement from his long career at the Intermountain Farmers Association (IFA).

Since then, Brad's writing journey has been nothing short of inspiring. Releasing at least one book or booklet annually, he's now the proud creator of numerous titles. These Christmas booklets are more than delightful reads; they are heartwarming festivities combined with valuable lessons and key insights that will positively shift your perspective on Christmas.

The 37-cent Christmas

This story is inspired by a true account of how a general store owner helps a young boy pick out an expensive gift to give to his widowed mother for Christmas. The boy pays all that he has earned for the gift…37 cents.

Special ties to Broadbent Store in Lehi, Utah.

The Final Exam: A Christmas Challenge

A college professor who teaches a class on the life and teachings of Jesus Christ tests what his students have learned by giving them a practical final exam. Nearly all of the class failed the test, but he was willing to give them an incomplete. They can redeem themselves and receive an A if they accept and accomplish a Christmas challenge for thirty days.

The Rejected Christmas

The story is about how a well-to-do woman and her neighbors try to provide a memorable Christmas to a poor man and his three children who moved into an old, run-down house across the street. She becomes hurt and angry when he rejects her twelve days of Christmas gifts. Inspired by a true story.

A Food Storage Christmas

This booklet tells the story of how a woman who taught High School English for forty years and never married gave away her earthly possessions to her nieces and nephews in a most unusual way.

Bellzah’s Incredible Christmas Journey

Mary’s little donkey (Bellzah), who was picked on by the other animals in the courtyard because she was small and made funny sounds when she spoke, was chosen by Joseph to carry Mary and baby Jesus to Bethlehem. Children’s book.

The Nativity Star Miracle

The story of how a young boy and his family travel from South Korea to Idaho to celebrate Christmas with his grandfather. His grandfather provides a real-life nativity experience that changes the boy’s feelings about the birth of Jesus. Children’s book.

The Spelling King

The King of a small backward country loves to spell. In time, he gives the grand order that all his subjects must spell, too. While the King is away, a concerned citizen’s committee meets and comes up with a solution of how to free themselves from the burden of having to spell everything they want to communicate.

Children's book with illustrations from Whit Hansen.

About the Author:

Brad Allred was born and raised on a farm in rural Utah a long time ago. He graduated from BYU in Animal Nutrition and worked for thirty years for an agricultural supply company. After retiring, he started writing short stories to encourage his grandsons to practice reading and learning their spelling words. (That story was published in 2023 as The Spelling King.)

He and his lovely wife Juliene are the parents of three sons, two beautiful daughters, and a foster son, and grandparents to twenty grandchildren and a great-grandson. The main reason he published his first book in 2018 was because he wanted to give a special gift to his children and grandchildren for Christmas. He hopes others enjoy reading his books and booklets as much as he has enjoyed telling these stories.
